How to Winterize and Store Your Rain Barrel for Winter

WINTERIZE & STORE YOUR RAIN BARREL

 
♦ It is recommended to disconnect the roof leader downspout from the rain barrel and reconnect the leader to a splash pan to drain water away from the foundation of the building.
 
♦Empty the water in the rain barrel. Ice will expand and may damage the rain barrel.
 
♦ Turn over the rain barrel to prevent the collection of snow or rain and store in safe area.
 
♦ Disconnect any rubber hoses and store indoors to prevent damage from freezing and cracking.
