Mayor Shanley COVID-19 Update December 8, 2020

NJ had 5,367 new positives on Saturday, 6,046 on Sunday, 3,573 on Monday and 5,820 new positives today which brings the total cases in NJ since the start to 377,055, and increase of 20,393 since Friday. This is 53rd straight day over 1,000 and we appear to be still climbing the mountain right now as NJ set its daily high positive record on Sunday and is in the 5,000s today. Sunday was the first time NJ passed 6,000 positives in one day since this pandemic began likely because NJ is testing much more than we were in March, April and May.

NJ hospitalizations have increased since my Friday report from 3,315 to 3,481 COVID-19 patients today with a slight decrease the North from 1,629 to 1,612, an increase in the Central from 995 to 1,095 and an increase in South Jersey from 691 to 774. Patients in critical care increased from 615 to 670 patients and patients on ventilators increased from 386 to 422. NJ deaths rose 53 on Saturday, 16 on Sunday, 17 on Monday and 90 unfortunate confirmed deaths today as a result of COVID—19.

The Governor’s ROT increased from 1.05 to 1.08 today from my Tuesday report. On RT live the ROT increased from 1.03 to 1.05 today. See link:

The new positives by FLOW towns since Friday are 23 new positives in Wyckoff bringing us from 642 to 665 , 44 new positives in Franklin Lakes bringing them from 401 to 445 and 22 new positives in Oakland bringing them from 397 to 412. Bergen County had 2,353 new positives since Friday bring our county from 37,202 to 39,555 positives.

My next reports is Friday night when I hopefully will get the new numbers for the FLOW towns and Bergen County. If I don’t get the numbers they will be the following day when they get sent to me.

Keep the faith! Remain Wyckoff Strong!

Have a great night and enjoy the rest of the week!

Tim Shanley, Wyckoff Mayor
