RECYCLING Information

Help Wyckoff Achieve the "Nifty Fifty". Our goal is 50% solid waste/landfill material and 50% recyclables.

A 50% residential recycling rate will save Wyckoff taxpayers $85,000 - $100,000 per year. Every pound recycled generates immediate savings for Wyckoff!

Each month, we post our results on the Recyclometer, here on our home page.

How you can help:

1. Disposing of large metal items makes a big difference in helping us to reach Nifty Fifty. The Wyckoff DPW offers curbside collection of: washers & dryers, stoves, residential refrigerators and freezers (with doors removed), air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and large metal items. You can call 201-891-7000, ext. 101 to request a Wednesday curbside pickup. This service is temporarily suspended during leaf collection. Residents may also bring these items to the Recycling and Conservation Center. Do not place these items with your trash. Keeping large items out of landfill trash is critical to reaching Nifty Fifty, and saves $65 per ton in collection fees.

2. Our single stream recycling accepts: all dry paper (including junk mail) and cardboard (including cereal boxes), plastics numbered 1-7, tin cans, glass bottles and jars, and wax coated paper cartons.

3. Recycle your televisions, computers, monitors, keyboards, branches and scrap metal at the Recycling and Conservation Center.

4. Always put a lid on your trash can and do not put large upholstered items or rugs out with your trash in inclement weather--- wet trash weighs more, so it costs more!
