Mayor Shanley COVID-19 Update October 23, 2020

Mayor Shanley COVID-19 Update October 23, 2020

We appear to be at the start of the second wave of this virus nationwide. 3 counties were over 100 positives today with Essex County having 194 new positives today on the NJ dashboard. Only 4 states are in the green on RT.live and NJ is ranked last. See below. It is a reminder that we need to remain vigilant in our fight against this virus.

NJ had 1,062 new positives on Wednesday, 1,182 positives on Thursday, and 1,139 positives today which brings the total cases in NJ since the start to 225.430. This is 6 straight days over 1,000.

.

NJ hospitalizations are up from my Friday report from 781 to 874 COVID-19 patients today with increases in the North from 395to 446, a slight increase in the Central from 198 to 213 and an increase in South Jersey from 188 to 215. Patients in critical care are up from 169 to 212 patients and patients on ventilators increased from 69 to 73. NJ deaths rose 18 on Wednesday and Thursday and 11 unfortunate confirmed deaths today as a result of COVID—19.

The Governor’s ROT increased from 1.14 to 1.17 today which is down from my Friday report. It is however troubling On RT live the ROT only slightly decreased from 1.40 on Tuesday to 1.37 today and remains the worst ROT in the USA. See link:

https://rt.live/

NJ needs the ROT to drop below 1 again.

The new positives by FLOW towns since Tuesday are 12 new positives in Wyckoff bringing us from 432 to 444 , 3 new positives in Franklin Lakes bringing them from 233 to 236 and 1 new positive in Oakland bringing them from 275 to 276. Bergen County had 325 new positives bring our county from 24,064 positives to 24,389 positives.

My next reports is Tuesday night when I hopefully get the new numbers for the FLOW towns and Bergen County.

Keep the faith! Remain Wyckoff Strong!

Have great night weekend.

Tim Shanley, Wyckoff Mayor
