Mayor Shanley COVID-19 Update June 27, 2020
I hope everyone enjoyed their day today. I got a lot of weeding done in my veggie garden and planted my Zucchini plants I started from seed weeks ago and the Chipmunks only ate one of my plants. Then I took the family to Aldo's for dinner and enjoyed it under the tent during the rain storm that was sorely needed as the ground was so dry.
Not much to report tonight but NJ only had 347 new positives and is up to 170,873. NJ hospitalizations dropped slightly to 1,103. They slightly increased in the North to 510 but decreased to 339 in Central and 254 in the South. Ventilator use decreased to 6.4% capacity and patients in critical care slightly decreased to 236.
These are all good signs that we are not in the same status as some of the states down South lIke Florida, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, and the Carolinas that are experience record new positives. Keep doing the things you have been doing with wearing masks as that is one of the biggest differences between NJ and these southern states that were not wearing masks. Masks are not the end all but they do help with stopping the spread of this virus. It also helps to avoid large gatherings and frequently washing our hands and not touching our faces. Keep doing what you have been doing well.
We got this. Wyckoff Strong!
Tim Shanley, Wyckoff Mayor
