To all our Wyckoff families, friends and neighbors I trust and hope that you are doing well and staying safe during these unprecedented times. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of some of our beloved Wyckoff residents and our thoughts and prayers are with their families.
As you know, this year’s Memorial Day ceremonies and parade have been cancelled, but as a community we can still remember all those brave service men and women who gave their lives in service to our great country. This year’s Memorial Day theme is “Remember the Fallen – Honor the Living”. On this day we must remember those that we lost, and honor those that they left behind. The Township of Wyckoff has placed “Gold Star” street signs throughout our community to honor and identify residents who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names are also inscribed on the Townships’ cenotaph located in the green of the Wyckoff Reformed Church at 590 Wyckoff Avenue.
To remember, reflect, and respect the sacrifice of these brave souls and their families, the volunteers of the Wyckoff Memorial Day Parade Committee have created a video. Watch the video here: MEMORIAL DAY VIDEO.
In honor of those we have lost, the Wyckoff Police and Volunteer Fire Department, along with the local churches, will sound their alarms and ring their bells at 11:59 am. The parade committee volunteers ask that all Wyckoff residents proudly fly your American flag and join us in a moment of silence at 12 pm on Monday May 25th.
Lastly, we thank you all for your past and present support. A special thank you to Greg Riccardi for having the creative insight to develop and produce this video for all of us to enjoy. We’d also like to thank Mayor Shanley and the Township Committee for their tremendous support, guidance and leadership during these uncertain times.
Stay safe, be well and God Bless the United States of America.
