Today, President Trump designated New Jersey a Major Federal Disaster Area. This is significant in that it will give our State and our Township access to funds for reimbursement of our additional expenses as a result of the pandemic. Our OEM, CFO and Administrator have been keeping track of our expenses and we will put in for reimbursement from FEMA at the appropriate time.
The State of New Jersey announced that the state is now at 6,876 positive cases, an increase of 2,492 cases from yesterday and 81 NJ residents have unfortunately died from the virus (an increase of 19 from yesterday).
Bergen County is up to 1,206 positive cases, an increase of 357 cases from yesterday with 18 unfortunate deaths of Bergen County residents (an increase of 3 from yesterday)
Bergen County Health reported to our OEM officer tonight that Wyckoff had 2 additional positive cases of our residents today bringing our total to 13. These residents are in self isolation and Bergen Health is tracing all those who may have had contact with these individuals.
We still have one of the lowest number of cases in Bergen County and I have to thank all the residents who are following our advice, the advice of the CDC and our health officials and are staying home, washing hands and maintaining 6 foot distances when it is necessary to go out for food, etc. It is helping to keep our numbers lower than other towns in Bergen County and most of our residents healthy.
Keep up the good work and try to encourage the small group of residents that may not be doing their part to start being responsible citizens. We are all in this together and will get through this together as a united Wyckoff but we need everyone doing their part, including our children.
