Programs

Throughout the year, the Environmental Commission and volunteer members of the Green Team Task Forces create, conduct and coordinate education and awareness programs for the Wyckoff community on sustainable practices and “green living” including the following programs.

Annual Town Wide Community Clean-Up Day

Known as Team Up to Tidy Up Wyckoff.  Sponsored by a NJ Clean Communities Grant Award, this community wide effort removes litter from many quasi-public places and serves to raise our awareness as a community of the negative impact of litter on our community.  This annual event is held in late March or early April.

This year, the Team Up to Tidy Up Event scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 9:00 am has been postponed at this time.

Spring and Fall Community Shred Fests

Each spring and fall, the Township provides a shredding event for residents at the DPW Yard located at 475 West Main Street. The spring event in April from 8:30 am to 11:00 am (or until the truck is full) has been cancelled at this time.  Please check the website for any updates.

Residents may bring four (4) bags or boxes weighing no more than 10 lbs. each on a first come first served basis.

Annual Fishing Derby

This fun event for children under 14 is conducted on the first Saturday in June.  Since 1982, children, parents and grandparents have experienced the enjoyment of recreational fishing from clean fresh water.  This event demonstrates the enjoyment of clean, natural bodies of water resulting from our compliance with the Federal Stormwater Management Act, (also known as the “only rain in the drain” law) which prohibits the throwing or dumping of pet waste, litter, motor oil, etc. into storm drains to prevent these pollutants from being washed into our brooks, rivers, ponds and lakes.  Our efforts are rewarded through our recreational enjoyment of clean bodies of water.

This year's Annual Fishing Derby scheduled for Saturday, June , 2020, at 8:30 am. has been postponed at this time.

Township's Nifty-Fifty Program

This program asks families to work together to decrease the amount of trash they place at the curb by 50% by diverting recyclables out of the waste stream and into the recycling stream.

Recycle Your Lawn Clippings at Home

Cut it and leave it” can be your new recycling motto.  Simply leave your clippings on the lawn when you mow and let nature do the recycling for you.  Grass clippings will provide a natural fertilizer for a growing lawn.

Plant a Tree in Your Yard Program to Celebrate Arbor Day

Proper tree placement and landscaping beautifies your home and lowers your heating and cooling costs and saves energy.   Please check back at a later date for more details The Township of Wyckoff's annual Arbor Day Ceremony in April 2020
