METAL BULK ITEMS/HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES COLLECTION PROCEDURE

Call Town Hall at 201-891-7000, ext. 101 prior to placing at the curb and provide your address for pick up of household appliances (also known as white goods) or household metal items, such as:

  • Residential wall-unit air conditioners
  • Residential washer and dryer (removal of doors recommended)
  • Residential stoves and ovens (removal of doors recommended)
  • Residential refrigerators and freezers (removal of doors REQUIRED)
  • Metal grills (propane tank must be removed by the homeowner before placing grill at curb)
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Hot water heaters (water removed - light enough to pick up)
  • Metal basketball poles and rims (without cement)
  • Water coolers

Metal Bulk Items/Household appliances are collected at the curb by the Wyckoff DPW on Wednesdays by appointment only. Appliance collection is suspended during snow plowing operations and fall leaf collection. Residents can bring their household appliances to the Recycling Center throughout the year. For household appliance collection, call Town Hall at 201-891-7000, ext. 101 prior to putting them at the curb and provide your address.

The following items are not considered the usual, daily household garbage items and are considered construction/renovation materials, unusual, oversized or overweight items. Provisions should be made by the property owner when they are planning a construction project or have an unusual item. These items should be disposed of by the contractor replacing/removing or residents may contract with private trash collectors; consult the yellow pages under Rubbish & Garbage Removal for the below listed items:

Air conditioner compressors Toilets, sinks, tubs, etc.
Pool heaters Fences
Cook tops Windows/doors, garage doors
Central air conditioning units Pianos
Swing sets - wood Furnaces
Railroad ties  
All construction and demolition debris
including all types of building materials
