GARBAGE & RECYCLING

GENERAL GUIDELINES

CURBSIDE COLLECTION

The Wyckoff Township Committee has awarded five year contracts effective January 1, 2008 to Gaeta Recycling for curbside collection of solid waste and to Veolia Environmental Services for curbside collection of recyclables.

The Contract with Gaeta provides:

GARBAGE & TRASH COLLECTION

  • Residential properties, houses of worship and small commercial operation
  • Once-a-week curbside collections October through April; eight items per pickup
  • Twice-a-week curbside collections May through September; four items per pickup

Place at curb after 6:00 p.m. the night before scheduled pickup.

GRASS COLLECTION

  • Collection of grass for residential properties only
  • Once-a-week curbside collection on your second scheduled garbage and trash collection day of the week May through September.
  • Grass must be placed in an open, reusable sturdy container with no liner that does not exceed 50 pounds. Plastic, paper bags or LANDSCAPING BARRELS MAY NOT BE USED.

Place at the curb after 6:00 pm the night before scheduled pickup. There is no maximum.

RECYCLABLE COLLECTION

The contract with Veolia provides:

  • recycling collection at residences, small commercial operations and houses of worship
  • every other week curbside of recyclables - all year round

Recyclables can be placed at the curb after 6:00 pm the night before scheduled pickup. There is no maximum.

Starting in September of 2008, the Township launched the user-friendly “single stream” recycling program. This means that the following recyclables can be put into one container: plastics #1 through #7; green, clear and brown glass; aluminum beverage containers; steel food cans; newsprint; corrugated cardboard; single-ply cardboard; and brown paper bags.

Residents are encouraged to be avid recyclers. The process is easier and more cost effective than ever. Your active participation is greatly appreciated.
